Ordering Birth, Marriage and Death certificates (England & Wales)

Volunteers at FreeBMD transcribe the General Register Office (GRO) index which enables you to search for individual birth, marriage and death records; this is entirely free. The information (Volume and Page Number) obtained from the search result can then be used to request a certificate. 

Ordering a certificate incurs a cost from the GRO or local Register Office. Further information can be found on this FreeBMD page.
